Placebo announces 2027 South American tour

The iconic rock band Placebo is gearing up for a major celebration, announcing a 2027 tour dedicated to Latin America, bringing their sound and legacy to countries across the continent.

This exciting run will celebrate the band’s first two studio albums, offering fans a chance to revisit foundational tracks from their history. The tour will take place in Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Colombia, and Mexico, marking a significant expansion of their global reach.

The tour isn’t just a concert series; it’s an opportunity to delve deep into the band’s history. It will feature material from their self-titled 1996 debut and the follow-up album, Without You I’m Nothing from 1998, including songs that have not been performed live for years.

This celebration aligns perfectly with the band’s ongoing 30th-anniversary festivities. To mark this milestone, Placebo also released RE in June, a unique reworking of their 1996 debut built using the original master tapes. The band described the release as a “director’s cut,” suggesting a deep exploration of their recorded history.

The expanded scope of their work has always reflected a desire to move beyond the confines of the UK scene. As the band reflected on their early career, they noted that the release of the debut album in 1996 was the moment they began playing shows outside of the UK, recognizing that the world felt much bigger than just the British Isles.

The upcoming South American tour will provide an intimate experience, focusing on early favorites like “Nancy Boy,” “Teenage Angst,” “Pure Morning,” and “Every You Every Me,” alongside tracks that have been missing from recent live sets.

The tour dates are scheduled across both February and March, offering a vibrant musical journey through the region. For example, the schedule includes dates in São Paulo, Brasília, Curitiba, and Porto Alegre in February, followed by stops in Buenos Aires, Santiago, Lima, and Bogotá in March, culminating in dates in Guadalajara and Monterrey.

Fans eager to secure tickets can find detailed pre-sale and general sale information on the official Placebo website. Specific ticketing schedules are detailed for each country, including staggered early-bird options for Brazil, Argentina, and others.

The celebration highlights the enduring power of Placebo’s music and their willingness to re-examine the source material, proving that the journey of a band is just as compelling as the music they create.
