PISS announces debut album ‘you made me skin on linen’

From the shadowy corners of the Vancouver underground emerges PISS, a collective of genre-fucked punks who are set to unleash their long-awaited debut LP, you made me / skin on linen. Released on October 30, the record is not just a collection of songs; it is a visceral blend of poetry, sound collage, performance, and visual art that demands the listener bear witness to raw, contained trauma.

The sound of the album, previewed by the infectious lead single time loop at hot slit, exists far beyond the traditional boundaries of punk. Bandleader and songwriter Taylor Zantingh reveals that this pursuit is deeply personal, a lifelong obsession. “I have been writing about this subject matter for my whole life,” Zantingh shared. He explained that the broader art project, including the videos and the album itself, is a continuation of this relentless search. Every artistic and business decision is filtered through a tiered system designed to prioritize what is best for the record, the audience, and the artist.

The visual landscape accompanying the music is equally potent. When discussing the single, Zantingh pointed to the raw connection between the music and the local scene: “Some of the people with whom I shared the earliest version of time loop at hot slit take the stage to sing it themselves. Our local scene has been singing this song with us for two years!!” He emphasized that no matter the destination, the work belongs to the femmes, queers, and weirdos of the Vancouver underground community.

Following dates in the UK, the band is scheduled to perform at Toronto’s Second Summer Festival and Kitchener’s Wreckerfest, alongside a supporting slot for Gilla Band. The tour schedule spans from September through November, hitting major spots like Brighton, Philadelphia, Brooklyn, and various European venues.
