Pet fox’s avoidant nature
Pet Fox is currently navigating a fascinating sonic shift, balancing the excitement of a new project with the deep introspection of a new release.
Earlier this month, the band made waves by announcing their forthcoming album, Balance, and simultaneously shared the energetic title track, setting an upbeat tone for what was to come.
However, the focus has now shifted toward a contrasting sound. Pet Fox has recently unveiled their second single, Avoidant, which offers a markedly different emotional landscape.
This new track is described as somber and confessional, inviting listeners into a more intimate and reflective space than the energetic material preceding it.
The release of Avoidant drew immediate attention, making its debut on the platform Stereogum.
It is this duality—the burst of energy from the album announcement paired with the vulnerability of the new single—that defines the current phase of Pet Fox’s artistic journey. They are skillfully exploring the full spectrum of musical expression, offering both high-energy hooks and deeper, more personal narratives to their audience.
