Perfect 100 Right Around My Finger
When you catch Dazy opening for Militarie Gun, you get a front-row seat to a unique musical experience, but you also get a look at the talent behind the sound. Among the musicians on tour is Andrew Madore, the guitarist for James Goodson, who brings a distinctive energy to the stage.
Madore is clearly a memorable figure, easily recognizable whether you are watching the performance or catching up on his work. I had the chance to meet him recently at the Charlottesville show, and he came across as a genuinely nice guy.
What struck me, however, was a rather curious observation about stature. Madore is quite tall, standing around six feet seven inches, but he wasn’t quite as tall as me. It sparked a rather amusing reflection on the human experience of height.
There is a peculiar dynamic that emerges when you interact with people of slightly different heights. I found myself pondering how meeting someone just a little shorter than you can subtly alter your perspective—it’s a fascinating, if slightly ridiculous, mental game.
The dynamic shifts even more so when you encounter someone who is even taller. Thinking about yourself as the “tall guy” and then meeting someone even taller tends to scramble the brain a little bit. It’s a real head-scratcher, and while this isn’t often an experience for me, it certainly provides plenty of food for thought.
Despite these philosophical ponderings, the connection to the music remains the centerpiece. Madore’s artistry and presence on the tour are what truly define his impact.
