Paul McCartney widens Dungeon Lane
Paul McCartney is keeping the creative momentum going, expanding his celebrated 2026 solo album, Dungeon Lane>, with a fresh batch of material. This expanded offering includes four new recordings, culminating in a special edition release that promises a delightful look back at the magic of the Beatles era, complete with some truly unexpected musical moments.
The excitement is amplified by a unique collaboration woven into the new tracks. One of the additions is a new version of “Home to Us,” which features an improbable duet between McCartney and Beatles drummer Ringo Starr. This historic pairing was born from a playful exchange: McCartney sought a full vocal performance, and Ringo, initially hesitant, agreed to contribute lines. The resulting track became a spontaneous duet, a musical moment that the legendary duo had never experienced before.
This unique approach is mirrored in the other new songs, “City Fox,” “One Night Stand,” and “Chelsea Boots.” These three tracks were all captured during the same recording sessions that produced Dungeon Lane>, giving fans a deeper, richer glimpse into McCartney’s solo work.
The expanded album is being offered in a special edition format, set to drop digitally on October 7th, followed by a 2LP vinyl edition on December 9th. This limited release features stunning new artwork adapted from a silkscreened collage by Kate Gibb, incorporating over 100 images from McCartney’s personal collection. For those who prefer vinyl, the physical release will include a limited-edition orange-and-blue marble pressing featuring a zoetrope etching.
Dungeon Lane> itself remains a monumental achievement, topping charts globally and debuting in the top five in more than a dozen countries, including the U.K., where it cemented McCartney’s status with a record-breaking 24th career No. 1 album.
While the new release celebrates the past, McCartney is clearly focused on the future. Despite playing only three full live shows in 2026, he is reportedly plotting his next tour plans for 2027. His longtime touring and session drummer, Abe Laboriel Jr., recently made his debut with Pearl Jam, though details regarding future live collaborations with McCartney remain to be seen.
