Paul McCartney flips Ringo Starr’s ‘Home To Us’ in Dungeon Lane

Music icon Paul McCartney has just unveiled a tantalizing new chapter with the Special Edition of his solo album, The Boys of Dungeon Lane. This release isn’t just a collection of tracks; it’s a lovingly curated journey that digs deep into the songwriting magic and the extraordinary life of one of music’s most influential figures.

Released back in May, this record marks McCartney’s first solo venture since McCartney III, offering listeners an intimate look at his formative years. The original 14 songs provided a nostalgic glimpse into his childhood in Liverpool and the adventures shared with George Harrison and John Lennon before they became the legendary group, The Beatles.

The original album resonated deeply, topping global charts and earning recognition as one of the 12 Albums of the Year shortlisted for the 2026 Mercury Prize—McCartney’s first nomination for this prestigious accolade.

The new Special Edition builds on this foundation, featuring four brand-new songs written during the same creative period as the original record. Among these fresh additions is a stunning reimagining of the beloved duet ‘Home To Us,’ featuring McCartney and his former bandmate Ringo Starr. This track, now presented as a Flip Mix, allows fans to hear McCartney performing the sections originally sung by Starr, creating a tender and unexpected reunion.

Beyond the collaboration, the Special Edition introduces fresh tracks like ‘City Fox’, ‘One Night Stand’, and ‘Chelsea Boots’, adding exciting new material to the collection. Physical copies will be available on December 9, including a limited edition 2LP orange and blue marble vinyl featuring a zoetrope etching, alongside new artwork for all editions.

The visual presentation of the album is equally captivating. The cover is a silkscreened collage by Kate Gibb, compiling over 100 images from McCartney’s personal collection, lending the entire package a rich, personal depth. This artistic touch perfectly complements the story of a lifelong artist.

Reflecting on his journey, McCartney shared that the creative satisfaction remains rooted in the act of songwriting itself. He described the process as a magical journey, emphasizing that there is still an inherent joy in crafting a melody, regardless of the decades that pass. He continues to find satisfaction in the creative process, noting that the magic of creation endures long after fame.

Whether celebrating nostalgic duets or introducing new sounds, the Special Edition of Paul McCartney continues to prove that the journey through Dungeon Lane is far from over.
