The curtain has finally fallen on an era, and the memory of a performance that redefined heavy metal history is now set to be immortalized. On the same day the concert film Ozzy Osbourne & Black Sabbath: Back To The Beginning hits cinemas, a special home release honoring the Prince of Darkness’s final performance has been announced, offering fans a deeply moving look at a legendary night.

This retrospective captures the epic all-day show that took place at Birmingham’s Villa Park on July 5, 2025. It’s a performance steeped in history, marking a profound moment in the life of Ozzy Osbourne. Just seventeen days before his passing from a heart attack at the age of 76, this show served as a powerful testament to a career lived on stage.

Producers Mercury Studios are preparing to release box-sets that aim to capture the full scope of this historic event. These releases, available on Blu-ray and CD formats, will feature the complete 147-minute film, alongside comprehensive sets from both the legendary Black Sabbath and Ozzy’s solo band. Pre-orders are now live, allowing fans to secure a piece of this musical legacy.

Beyond the core footage, the releases are packed with unique bonus features designed to enrich the experience. Viewers will gain access to video tributes to Ozzy, special guest performances, including Jack Black singing Ozzy’s Mr Crowley and Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst tackling Sabbath’s Changes, plus exclusive behind-the-scenes features and a documentary exploring Ozzy’s roots in Sounds Of Birmingham.

For those who crave the deep dive, a deluxe box-set is slated for release in April. This expansive collection will feature every Black Sabbath and Ozzy cover from the thirty-five artists who graced the stage, including three Blu-ray discs, two CDs, three LPs, and a 72-page hardback book. It’s a monumental collection that fully celebrates the breadth of the music that defined the Prince of Darkness’s career.

The film itself is a heavyweight, featuring a lineup that was arguably the most star-studded gig in heavy metal history. It brought together titans like Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Tool, Gojira, and Mastodon, marking the first time the original Black Sabbath lineup performed together since 2005.

The impact of this event extended far beyond the concert hall. The not-for-profit event was a powerful act of charity, live-streamed by over five million people globally, raising an estimated combined total of £6–£7 million for charities including Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Acorns Children’s Hospice, and Cure Parkinson’s. It remains a shining example of how music can inspire community and provide vital support.

A digital live soundtrack featuring both the Sabbath and Ozzy sets will also be released on December 11, ensuring this incredible musical journey is available in multiple formats for everyone to enjoy.
