Omar Souleyman postpones Canadian shows due to visa issues

The global music scene often dances to a rhythm of release and travel, but sometimes, even the most anticipated concerts face unexpected hurdles. Syrian folk maestro Omar Souleyman, known for his evocative sound that bridges traditional melodies with modern beats, has had to navigate a significant delay in his planned North American tour.

The initial schedule was set for an exciting run, with Souleyman slated to perform in Montreal and Toronto in October. However, unforeseen visa delays, stemming from restrictions related to travel to certain Middle Eastern countries, necessitated a postponement of the dates.

The wait has been a testament to the logistical complexities of international travel, but the anticipation for his music remains undiminished. The planned concerts have been rescheduled for the spring of 2027, ensuring that fans will still get to experience his captivating performances.

The Montreal performance, originally slated for October 2nd at the S.A.T., has been moved to April 10th at the same venue. Similarly, the Toronto show, planned for October 5th at the Concert Hall, has been relocated to April 9th at Lee’s Palace.

For those who were planning to attend, the good news is that tickets for the original dates will be honored for these new performances. Fans have until October 13th to arrange refunds should they no longer be able to make the revised dates.

These North American engagements represent the only shows currently booked for the artist, reflecting the current travel restrictions affecting access to the region. Despite the change in timeline, the commitment to bringing Souleyman’s unique musical artistry to Canadian audiences remains firmly in place.
