Olympia London cancels all December shows

The Unforeseen Detour: London Music Scene Hits a Snag

The excitement surrounding December music events in London has hit a sudden, unexpected pause. Olympia London has announced the cancellation of all scheduled live shows for the month, affecting major acts like Bloc Party, Interpol, and Royal Blood.

The reason behind the sudden halt is logistical: the venue is currently grappling with unforeseen planning issues, forcing the cancellation of all events planned for the year.

The news hit Royal Blood particularly hard. The Brighton duo, who were slated to play at the 7,000-capacity space in West Kensington on December 3rd as part of their 2026 UK headline tour, confirmed the cancellation via social media.

“We are absolutely gutted that we cannot perform at Olympia as planned and know that this will be disappointing to our fans who’ve bought tickets and made arrangements to see us,” the band stated. They noted that despite exploring every option, there were no viable alternative venues in London for that specific date, leading to a full refund for all tickets.

While the main acts faced a venue roadblock, the wider music scene is demonstrating remarkable adaptability. The co-headline concerts by Interpol and Bloc Party at Olympia on December 4 and 5 are listed as “cancelled” on Ticketmaster, though the status of future dates remains to be seen.

For some artists, the plan didn’t disappear entirely, it just changed course. Jamie T’s performances scheduled for December 11th and 12th at the Olympia have been successfully relocated to the larger OVO Arena Wembley on those same days, ensuring the concert still takes place.

Meanwhile, other acts are still set to rock London venues. Upcoming gigs from Khalid (October 15th), Puscifer (November 7th), and The Damned (November 27th) are still scheduled to take place at the new British Airways ARC, situated above the west exhibition hall.

The disappointment is certainly palpable, but the music doesn’t stop. Royal Blood is already looking forward, working with their team on a new London date for 2027 and promising updates as soon as possible. The duo’s latest studio record, ‘Dead Company’, featuring the explosive single ‘Swallow The Bomb’, continues to prove that even when plans crumble, the creative energy remains relentless.
