Olivia Tremor Control’s long-awaited new album

After nearly three decades of waiting, the atmospheric soundscape of the Olivia Tremor Control is finally ready to be rediscovered. The experimental electronic duo has announced their first new album in 27 years, titled The Same Place, set to arrive on October 23 through Elephant 6 Recording Co.

This monumental record isn’t just a collection of songs; it is the culmination of a deeply ambitious project that spanned nearly two decades. The creation process was a marathon effort, marking the band’s third full album following their cult-favorite release of Black Foliage: Animation Music Vol. 1 in 1999.

The journey to completing this double album required bringing together a unique group of collaborators. The surviving members of the band worked alongside fellow Elephant 6 members and producers Derek Almstead, Jason NeSmith, and Ron Kwasma, weaving decades of musical history into something new.

The project honored the legacy of those who were integral to the band’s history, including co-leaders Bill Dose and Will Cullen Hart. While their time together saw many memorable reunion shows, this new work represents a sustained creative effort that bridges the past with an exciting future.

The Same Place is a sprawling 27-track double album, offering listeners deep dives into the band’s distinctive sound. The release promises a rich tapestry of their unique sensibilities, including previously released tracks such as The Same Place and Garden of Light.
