Olivia Dean’s ‘The Art Of Loving’ hits No. 1 on ARIA chart

The charts are buzzing, proving that musical appetites across the Tasman and beyond are anything but tame. As the music world celebrates its latest hits, a flurry of releases and tour dates are setting the pace, reminding us that great music is constantly evolving.

In a move that brought some serious heat to Australia, British singer Olivia Dean has enjoyed a massive welcome, with her sophomore album The Art Of Loving (via Universal) landing at No. 1 on the ARIA Chart.

To celebrate this success, Dean kicked off a dynamic six-date trans-Tasman tour in support of Loving. The journey took her from Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena to Sydney, Brisbane, and even to Auckland, New Zealand, proving that some music truly knows no borders.

This stellar run of performances has cemented The Art Of Loving’s reign, hitting No. 1 for its fourteenth non-consecutive week. Meanwhile, the momentum continues elsewhere on the charts.

The nostalgia factor is also making a comeback, as ‘80s Australian rock act V.Spy V.Spy (originally known as Spy vs. Spy) made a big splash. Forty-year reissues saw both Harry’s Reasons (1986) and A.O Mod. TV. Vers (1987) creep into the top ten for the first time, reminding listeners of classic sounds.

In the realm of contemporary hits, artists continue to dominate the spotlight. Drake’s expanded version of HABIBTI (Republic/Universal) has entered the top ten, peaking at No. 10. The deluxe edition, which includes tracks like “Cold Shoulder” and “Solar Eclipse,” shows that fans are ready for more deep cuts.

Australian talent is also making waves. West Australian rock outfit Old Mervs found a comfortable spot in the top 20 with their sophomore album, Carparks (Dew Process/Universal), landing at No. 16. Similarly, singer Ella Hooper, known for her work with Killing Heidi, secured a spot in the top 20 with her solo album Overnight Success, reaching No. 19.

The ARIA Top 50 is brimming with new arrivals, showcasing diverse sounds. This list includes Imminence’s Axis Mundi, Soul Wun’s independently-released Kaleidoscope, former Little River Band frontman Glenn Shorrock’s Legendary (The Ultimate Collection), Spike F*k’s evidence, and the collaborative album Together Alone live at the Ulumbarra Theatre by Ian Moss and Troy Cassar-Daley.

On the singles front, Ella Langley’s country monster “Choosin’ Texas” is currently holding the No. 1 spot on the ARIA Singles Chart for the sixteenth non-consecutive week. And adding another layer to the musical landscape, Noah Kahan’s “Draw You Out” is making its debut in the top tier at No. 35, inspired by the latest chapter in The Hunger Games franchise.
