Now Now drops a new single
The Minneapolis musical duo Now, Now is back in the studio, chasing a wave of pure, unadulterated freedom with their latest single, “Slide.” This new release captures a feeling of weightlessness and freedom, channeling the nostalgic confidence of a roller rink and a healthy dose of creative rebellion.
The track is more than just a catchy tune; it’s an anthem about rejecting external expectations. Lead singer KC Dalager describes the feeling as the antithesis of being trapped by others’ unwanted feelings, offering listeners a space where they are free to simply be themselves. “It is a pretty straightforward track lyrically… lighthearted,” Dalager notes, emphasizing the refreshing simplicity of the message.
To bring this mood to life, the accompanying visualizer was captured at the vibrant setting of Skateville in Burnsville, Minnesota, showcasing Dalager’s distinctive, effortless footwork and energy.
The new single follows the group’s four-song EP surprise released, which was introduced in October 2025. This release marked a significant return to music for the duo, following a lengthy hiatus after 2018’s release of Saved.
During that break, Dalager explored his identity further, releasing a solo album as KC Rae, while Brad Hale focused on honing his skills as a producer and creative collaborator. Now, as Now, Now returns to the forefront, they are being deliberate about how they approach their work.
Dalager shared this perspective recently, reflecting on the current landscape of the music industry. When asked about performing live, he admitted that the touring experience has felt like a slog, noting that navigating the industry has been more challenging than in previous years. The duo is now focused on managing their energy and resources wisely as they navigate their path forward.
Despite the focus on mindful creation, the momentum is clearly building. While the duo is taking their time, there are expectations for more music. Now, Now is reportedly working on a full-length album, with plans for a release sometime next year.
