My Morning Jacket signs publishing deal with Peermusic

My Morning Jacket is continuing its celebrated journey into the future, securing a major publishing deal that cements the legacy of their sound and amplifies the vision of frontman Jim James. The band has officially signed an agreement with Peermusic, which encompasses all their current and future releases.

This significant partnership builds upon a decades-long professional relationship with Jamie Cerreta, who has been instrumental in guiding the band’s musical path. Cerreta’s tenure at Peermusic has involved expanding the publisher’s frontline roster, bringing together some of the same talented artists he previously worked with at Big Deal and Hipgnosis.

The foundation of this collaboration was laid back in 2002 when Cerreta first signed My Morning Jacket to Chrysalis. Over the years, this relationship evolved, marking a true creative partnership that spanned well over two decades, allowing the band to continue cultivating their unique independent rock identity.

For Jim James, the agreement represents more than just a business transaction; it is a celebration of a deep musical connection. James shared his excitement about joining the Peermusic family, noting that Cerreta has always been a wonderful guide and protector for the music he has created, making the opportunity to work with him and the team incredibly thrilling.

My Morning Jacket has established themselves as an enduring force in independent rock. The five-piece, featuring James on vocals and guitar, Tom Blankenship on bass, Patrick Hallahan on drums, Carl Broemel on guitar, and Bo Koster on keys, has released twelve albums that have charted across the Billboard 200.

Their success is marked by consistent musical impact. Their album Circuital, for example, reached No. 5 on the chart in 2011. More recently, their 2025 album Is demonstrated their continued relevance, producing two No. 1 hits on the Adult Alternative Airplay charts with the tracks “Everyday Magic” and “Time Waited.”

Supported by management from Mick Management, Jim James and My Morning Jacket continue to push the boundaries of rock music while benefiting from a robust and exciting professional backing.
