Shelton connects this intensity to a broader sense of societal malaise: “I can’t say whether or not the world is actually ending but it certainly feels like the sense of community in the world is all but dead.” He uses the music as a vehicle for commentary, aiming to highlight the arguments that distract from real systemic issues being pushed by politicians and technocratic forces.
