Manic Street Preachers tease album and Suede song launch tour

The stage is set for a spectacular musical collision as legendary acts Manic Street Preachers and Suede launched their co-headline UK arena tour in Glasgow, kicking off a vibrant new chapter for two of rock’s most enduring bands.

This tour is more than just a series of concerts; it’s a celebration of a shared history. Having first joined forces in 1994, the two groups have navigated joint North American tours in 2022 and a UK trek in 2024, forging a dynamic partnership that fans adore.

The opening night, held at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow on Wednesday, October 28, showcased the potent energy of the collaboration. The Manics took the stage first, setting the tone with anthems like the classic ‘Motorcycle Emptiness’ and ‘Ocean Spray’, seamlessly transitioning into newer tracks such as ‘Decline & Fall’. Their performance was punctuated by acoustic renditions of tracks from their seminal work, including material from ‘The Holy Bible’, offering fans a nostalgic yet fresh experience.

The atmosphere continued as the Suede contingent followed, premiering the hotly anticipated new single ‘My City’. Their setlist was a perfect mix of classic euphoria and emerging sounds, featuring hits like ‘Antidepressants’ and ‘Trash’, alongside deeper cuts such as ‘Animal Nitrate’ and ‘Beautiful Ones’. As Suede frontman Brett Anderson introduced the performance, he acknowledged the complementary nature of the pairing, noting that while they occupy similar territory, they manage to be distinct, creating a beautifully complementary force.

The collaboration is clearly yielding fresh creative output. Suede introduced a brand new song, ‘My City’, live, signaling exciting developments for the band. This creative synergy is further amplified by Manic Street Preachers, who recently released their album ‘Critical Thinking’ in early 2025, and are hinting at new material, finding a new thread in their songwriting process.

The evening saw both bands showcase their depth, with the Manics delivering a powerful set including ‘From Despair to Where’ and ‘The Everlasting’, while Suede brought a touch of raw energy with ‘Trance State’ and ‘Metal Mickey’. The shared performance underscored the enduring power of their respective legacies while embracing the excitement of their shared future.

The tour is set to continue, moving from Glasgow to Leeds, Manchester, London, and Birmingham, promising an unforgettable journey for fans eager to witness the interplay between these two musical titans.
