Macklemore Hozier and Kneecap benefit concert for Palestine in Dublin

The stage became a platform for more than just music this past weekend. Macklemore ignited a powerful benefit concert series in Dublin, bringing together a constellation of artists, activists, and global voices to champion humanitarian causes for Palestinians.

The sold-out event at the 3Arena featured a truly eclectic mix, weaving together hip-hop and folk traditions with a wide array of celebrated talent. Alongside Macklemore, the lineup included Hozier, Kneecap, and a stack of other performers, creating an atmosphere charged with shared purpose.

The guest list extended far beyond the music scene. Notable attendees included Irish folk band Beoga, singer-songwriter Lina Makoul, M1 of Dead Prez, and DJ Habibeats. The event also featured special appearances by figures like Game of Thrones actor Liam Cunningham, activist and psychotherapist Nadia Greenspan, and artist and organizer Samir Eskanda.

Adding further weight to the gathering were remote appearances by celebrities such as Mark Ruffalo, The Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas, Cynthia Nixon, Ilana Glazer, and Natasha Rothwell.

This three-city tour is driven by a vital mission: raising funds for organizations dedicated to providing humanitarian relief, medical care, education, and advocacy for Palestinians. Organizers named key beneficiaries including Anera, Medical Aid for Palestinians, the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund, Jewish Voice for Peace, and UNRWA USA.

The trajectory of this series emerged from Macklemore’s recent decision to step away from the North American leg of the Ed Sheeran Loop Tour. During the tour, Macklemore had made powerful statements, such as calling for “Free Palestine” at MetLife Stadium and speaking about the plight of people affected by conflict in the Middle East and beyond.

The commitment to this cause quickly resonated, leading to immediate fallout. Several support acts chose to withdraw from the tour in solidarity. Furthermore, Macklemore demonstrated his dedication by pledging his $1 million in net earnings from the tour directly to Palestinian aid groups.

Dublin was just the beginning of this journey. It followed a performance at Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre where Macklemore spoke on broader issues, addressing regions like Sudan, Congo, Lebanon, Haiti, and the impact of U.S. immigration policies.

The momentum continues as the tour moves to Paris’ Accor Arena on Thursday and wraps at London’s OVO Arena Wembley on Friday, with all three dates remaining sold out. It is a demonstration that music and activism can powerfully converge to drive meaningful global change.
