Live At Carnegie Hall film release details announced
The stage is set for a cinematic event, as the incredible live performance of musician Cameron Winter at Carnegie Hall is being immortalized on film. This powerful concert, which followed Winter’s extensive tour with his band Geese, is set to receive a world premiere and a global streaming release, offering audiences a look into the raw magnetism of a future musical giant.
The resulting film, directed by the acclaimed Oscar-winning filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson, captures the electric atmosphere of the night. Shot using both 35mm and 16mm film, the concert footage is a stunning blend of piano-led arrangements drawn from Winter’s 2024 solo album, Heavy Metal.
The production process itself was a fascinating collaboration. Anderson, known for monumental works like One Battle After Another and There Will Be Blood, brought his directorial eye to the performance. Footage reveals Anderson on set, operating cameras, alongside collaborators like Benny Safdie, who helped capture the energy of the audience during the spectacle.
This special event, which took place on December 11, 2025, followed a sold-out North American tour and was a deeply anticipated moment for music lovers. The sheer talent on display was already lauded; one review noted that Winter possesses “the power, talent and magnetism of a future great.”
The cinematic release strategy is unfolding globally. The film is slated for its world premiere at the 64th New York Film Festival, running from September 25 to October 12. Following this, it will make its UK debut at the 70th BFI London Film Festival, scheduled between October 7 and 18.
Beyond the festival circuit, the concert film will become a widely accessible piece of art. MUBI has announced the global acquisition of the film, excluding North America, and plans to stream the concert film in 2027. Janus Films and Criterion are set to handle the North American release.
Adding to the package, the performance is also being released as Cameron Winter’s first live album, ‘Live At Carnegie Hall’, set for release on October 9 via Partisan Records and Play It Again Sam. The album features music recorded, produced, and mixed by Ariel Rechtshaid, who also produced the music for the film.
Fans will have access to this epic experience in theaters across North America later this year, with tickets going on sale on September 17 via the film’s official website. It is a compelling cinematic journey that perfectly captures the intersection of phenomenal music and masterful filmmaking.
