L’Eclair Unleashes New Echo EP

L’Eclair

Swiss groove merchants L’Eclair are accelerating their sonic journey with the studio release of “Excelsior,” the latest chapter in the band’s evolution. This track, which has been a favorite on the live circuit for over a year and has undergone multiple sonic revisions, now arrives as part of Echo, a forthcoming EP that pushes the band’s elastic approach to rhythm, texture, and groove into more volatile territory.

The release serves as a manifesto for the group, demonstrating how they are synthesizing the raw, wild energy of their live shows with a cutting-edge approach to modern production. “Excelsior” is the fastest L’Eclair song to date, channeling the influence of dub music by taking the classic stepper rhythm and injecting it with modern elements like 303 synthesizers, fuzzed-out guitars, and a cinematic bridge that shifts and builds relentlessly. It’s a declaration: L’Eclair is back, ready to hit harder and fill bigger rooms.

This new material sets the stage for a significant expansion of the band’s lineup. “Excelsior” introduces several new creative forces to the studio, including James Iwa on bass, Panji Bharata on synth, and percussionist Eduardo Silva Fuentes. This expanded ensemble brings a fresh dynamic to the group’s established sound.

The five-song Echo EP is scheduled for release on November 6 from Innovative Leisure. It serves as the direct follow-up to the acclaimed Cloud Drifter, the Lilovs’ debut effort for the label. Cloud Drifter had already proven the band’s versatility, welcoming vocalists and rappers such as Pink Siifu, Phoebe Coco, Gelli Haha, and Girl Named GOLDEN into a catalog built on funk, jazz, psych, and electronic textures.

The tracklist for Echo includes:

“Excelsior”
“Slick”
“Dunes”
“Night Shift”
“Echo St.”
