Launches Music and Media Tech Venture Firm
The world of music and media technology is getting a major infusion of capital and fresh perspective. Willard Ahdritz, the visionary co-founder and longtime CEO of Kobalt Music Group, has expanded his reach by launching Ahdritz Capital Partners, a new investment fund, and immediately bolstered the team with two highly accomplished investment partners: Isabel Keulen and Stephen Langer.
Ahdritz Capital is poised to tackle the challenge of helping global music and media companies establish a foothold in key markets like the United States. Drawing on his extensive experience, Ahdritz has previously managed $1.7 billion in music assets and facilitated billions in creator funds during his tenure at Kobalt, setting a clear mission: providing hands-on support and introductions for founders looking to achieve global scale.
This focus on innovation is already paying dividends. Ahdritz’s $20 million fund has already backed exciting ventures, including the New Dehli-based distributor Madverse Music Group and the superfan music platform Even. This portfolio demonstrates a keen eye for the intersection of entertainment and disruptive technology.
A key example of this focus on technology is Madverse Music Group, founded by Rohan Nesho Jain in 2023. Madverse provides digital distribution services to independent music clients, using artificial intelligence to enhance publishing, administration, and advertising. The platform has rapidly grown, serving over 200,000 independent artist and label clients across more than 40 countries, offering an innovative alternative to established distribution methods.
The addition of Isabel Keulen to the team brings a deep expertise in the tech and startup ecosystem. Keulen, formerly the CEO of the Stockholm School of Economics’ startup incubator, SSE Business Lab, and SSE Ventures, brings a formidable background in venture capital and technology innovation, adding a sharp focus on AI innovators to Ahdritz Capital’s strategy.
Rounding out the team is Stephen Langer, who joined Ahdritz Capital from Lazard’s Media, Entertainment & Sports group. Langer brings a decade of experience in entertainment and media finance, having played a critical role in major M&A deals, including advising on the sale of Kobalt.
“To be big globally, you have to be big in the U.S.,” Ahdritz notes, emphasizing the necessity of strong domestic foundations for international success. The new partnership, bolstered by the combined experience of Keulen and Langer, positions Ahdritz Capital to be a powerful catalyst for the next wave of music and media technology companies, ensuring that creators and innovators have the resources they need to thrive on the global stage.
