Kings of Leon ‘Cold Blue Dawn’ with Weather Channel video
Kings of Leon Partners with the Weather Channel to Explore the Beauty of the World
Rock giants Kings of Leon have released a serene new single, and it comes bundled with a groundbreaking music video created in collaboration with The Weather Channel, melding the raw energy of rock with the breathtaking majesty of the natural world.
This fresh release comes from the band’s nostalgic new album, O My Beloved, which follows up on the excitement generated by their previous single, My Whole World. The record, their tenth studio album, is set to arrive on November 6 via Love Tap Records, marking a significant chapter in the story of the Tennessee rock group.
The latest preview shared is the heartfelt track Cold Blue Dawn, a piece that embraces a bluesy sound and invites listeners into a reflective, appreciative journey. The song perfectly captures the band’s appreciation for how the natural world shapes our personal experiences.
What makes this release truly unique is the visual element. The lyric video for the single was developed in partnership with The Weather Channel, utilizing stunning satellite imagery from NASA’s historic Landsat programme. This incredible visual storytelling spells out every word and letter of the lyrics, weaving in breathtaking shots of rivers, coastlines, farmland, and mountain ranges.
Frontman Caleb Followill shared the inspiration behind the partnership. “My family was already die-hard Weather Channel followers,” he noted. “We saw what they did with our song immediately and thought it was beautiful. We learned they were making music a larger part of what they do and we reached out immediately to try and do something together.”
The collaboration truly aimed to bridge the gap between science and creativity. Rohit Agarwal, CEO of The Weather Company, echoed this sentiment: “Weather isn’t the backdrop to our lives, it’s part of the story. It shapes the moments we remember, the places we love and the experiences that connect us, much like music.”
This creative synergy followed a viral moment when The Weather Channel had previously created a clip featuring the band’s song Pyro, which Kings of Leon embraced and shared across social media.
The album O My Beloved itself is shaping up to be an intimate and unguarded collection, with its thirteen songs centered on themes of nostalgia and deep self-reflection. Followill reflected on this journey, stating that the album allows him to look back on family stories and childhood memories, realizing how impactful those moments truly were in his life.
The tracklist for the album includes songs like Intro, My Whole World, Cold Blue Dawn, and Warm Company, offering listeners a deeply personal and moving experience.
