KATSEYE perform ‘Animal’ and ‘Hootie Frutti’ on SNL debut
The global music scene is buzzing with the sound of KATSEYE, a powerhouse girl group that continues to defy expectations and dominate the charts. From reality competition stars to global music titans, this group has managed an astonishing ascent in just a few short years, solidifying their status as one of the most commercially successful acts worldwide.
Their momentum recently peaked with a major mainstream television moment. On Saturday, September 26th, KATSEYE took the stage for their Saturday Night Live debut, sharing two tracks from their latest release, the EP Wild. This performance served as a perfect spotlight, showcasing the vibrant energy and polished talent that the group brings to the global stage.
The EP Wild, released in August, is a testament to their continued musical prowess, featuring hits like “Animal” and “Hootie Frutti.” It is part of a successful catalog that also includes singles such as “Pinky Up,” “Bel Air,” and “That Way.” The group’s trajectory has been meteoric, built on a foundation established by their debut EP SIS (Soft Is Strong) in 2024.
KATSEYE‘s rise wasn’t an overnight phenomenon; it was meticulously crafted. Formed through the reality competition series Dream Academy—a collaborative venture between HYBE and Universal Music Group’s Geffen Records—the six-member group drew talent from across the globe. This foundation allowed them to rapidly transition from emerging stars to chart-topping phenomena.
Their commercial success has been undeniable. Their second EP, Beautiful Chaos, further cemented their status, debuting at No. 4 on the Billboard 200. The lead single “Gnarly” became their first entry onto the Hot 100, while their Latin-pop track “Gabriela” climbed to No. 21, marking their most successful charting single to date. The group’s impact is measured not only in chart positions but also in reach; they command over 30 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
The recent EP Wild pushed this success even further. It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, achieving 170,000 first-week units—making the group’s debut chart-topper and the biggest sales week for an all-female group in years. Their lead single “Animal,” co-written by Ed Sheeran, followed suit, hitting No. 24 on the Hot 100 and continuing their streak of charting singles.
As the group navigates this incredible success, they are currently embarking on the 31-date Wildworld Tour. Having kicked off the journey in Europe, the tour is now heading to North America, kicking off in Miami, moving north into Canada, and concluding in Mexico City in late November, bringing their phenomenal music to audiences worldwide.
