Kacey Musgraves and Intocable at Uncertain TX

Kacey Musgraves is taking her celebrated exploration of Texas musical history and giving it a vibrant, soulful twist. The artist has teamed up with the legendary Música Mexicana group Intocable for a Spanish-language re-recording of the fan-favorite track, Uncertain, TX, creating a collaboration that beautifully bridges country, Tejano, and the rich cultural tapestry of the borderlands.

This new iteration continues Musgraves’ ongoing journey into musical traditions that define Texas and the Mexican-American experience, a theme that echoes throughout her latest album, Middle of Nowhere.

The pairing is particularly noteworthy because Intocable is an institution in Mexican-American music, regarded as one of the most influential Tejano/Norteño acts of recent decades, having earned two Grammy awards. This collaboration brings a unique dynamic to the track, pairing an English-speaking artist with a nearly 35-year career of musical mastery.

For Musgraves, working with the legends of Intocable was a thrilling experience. She shared her excitement about the project, noting that the studio version of “Uncertain, TX” features Willie Nelson, and expressed pride in the cultural melting pot that defines Texas.

Currently, Musgraves is hitting the road with her 34-date Middle of Nowhere tour. The journey continues tonight in Houston, Tx., before wrapping up in Seattle over the weekend. As her career continues to ascend, she is also eyeing the upcoming CMA Awards, where she is nominated for five categories, including Album of the Year and Female Vocalist of the Year, set to be announced on November 18.

Musgraves’ musical path remains multifaceted, recently highlighted by a touching tribute to close friend Dolly Parton with a cover of “I Will Always Love You” at the MTV Video Music Awards, demonstrating her ability to connect deeply with diverse musical voices.
