Jennie apologizes BLACKPINK fans for anniversary disappointment

The bond between K-pop stars and their devoted fans often runs deeper than music and choreography; it becomes a shared journey of growth and gratitude. For BLACKPINK, this connection was recently highlighted by Jennie, who took the opportunity to share heartfelt reflections on the group’s milestone and the enduring love of their BLINKs.

Reflecting on the group’s tenth anniversary, Jennie expressed sadness that she did not have the chance to properly connect with her fans and share her feelings on that significant day. She noted that she preferred to wait until she felt ready to offer a more open heart, emphasizing that the relationship with the BLINKs was one of the greatest blessings in her life.

“These past ten years have given me some of the most special moments of my life, all because of you,” she shared. Her message was a powerful expression of thankfulness, recognizing that the support from the fans allowed them to grow and dream bigger for the future.

Jennie acknowledged that the anniversary should have been a time for pure celebration, and she offered an apology for any disappointment felt by those who wished for a grander display. She stressed that the BLINKs have always been a tremendous source of love and gratitude.

In a move to celebrate and bridge that gap, the group and their agency, YG Entertainment, organized a special gathering. Two days before the anniversary, the agency announced that 40 BLINKs holding paid Weverse memberships would be selected to attend a private meet-and-greet with Jennie, Rosé, Lisa, and Jisoo in Seoul.

The mood was set for celebration as the group shared the moment. The official BLACKPINK account posted a video montage of the small gathering, showing the four members greeting fans, sharing smiles, and posing together with fans, complete with pink flowers and a celebratory cake.

Adding to the heartfelt communication, Jisoo also addressed the feelings of the fans during a Weverse livestream before the fan event. She reiterated her love for the BLINKs, expressing regret that communication might have been lacking, and hoping that the fans understood the importance of the occasion.

The milestone itself marks an incredible journey. Since their debut in 2016, BLACKPINK has achieved significant recognition, accumulating 11 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 and five albums on the Billboard 200. Their discography, including albums like Born Pink and The Album, reflects a career filled with artistic success and global influence.
