Meet James Palko, a musician based in Queens whose creative energy seems to defy simple categorization. While he is known for juggling multiple projects, his latest endeavors show him firmly planted in the vibrant world of power-pop.
Palko’s musical journey has always been one of constant motion. Not long ago, he was contributing his talents as a bassist in Taking Meds. Now, he channels that energy into leading the band Pretty Rude, who have carved out a space for themselves with their debut album, Ripe, released last year.
But Palko’s creativity doesn’t stop at one band. He also explores different sonic landscapes as Jimmy Montague, releasing his solo work under this moniker with the album Tomorrow’s Coffee, which dropped in 2024.
Adding another dimension to his artistic portfolio is his project Film Major. This creative side has recently seen new developments, with the group dropping a fresh track on Sunday.
The latest output from Film Major, featuring the song “The Board”, has already caught attention, appearing prominently on Stereogum and signaling Palko’s continued success as a multifaceted artist.
