Inked & Amped unite Chicago’s music and DIY scene
Rock music, intricate tattoo culture, and the electric energy of Chicago nightlife are set to collide next month in a celebration of independent creativity. Maverick and SPIN are bringing the dynamic partnership of Inked & Amped back to the city, offering a unique platform where musicians, makers, tattoo artists, and over 21-year-olds can connect over a shared passion for self-expression and originality.
The second installment of the event is scheduled for September 17 at the historic Ramova Theatre, transforming the venue into a vibrant alternative marketplace for an unforgettable evening. It’s more than just a concert; it’s a celebration of the independent spirit that fuels local creative communities.
Inked & Amped is dedicated to spotlighting the people who are actively shaping culture within their own communities. As Lauren Richmond, Brand Director for Maverick, puts it, the event creates spaces that bring together creators and fans who embrace individuality and authenticity—from music and art to tattoo culture and craftsmanship.
The music lineup is stacked with homegrown talent and global influences. Nashville-bred alternative favorites Bully will headline the event, bringing their signature blend of punk, grunge, and melodic alt sounds. Fronted by Alicia Bognanno, Bully has garnered a national following over the last decade, with recent releases like Lucky for You featuring hits such as Lose You and Days Move Slow.
The diversity of talent ensures a sonic journey for attendees. La Rosa Noir, a product of the Windy City’s DIY scene, will deliver a unique fusion of surf, post-punk, new wave, and Latin rhythms. Their debut album Arellano, released in 2023, includes tracks like Streetlight and New Gods, and their new single Mourning Rain promises an alluring sound.
Adding to the atmosphere, Chicago-based Iris Blue will perform their signature “Indie Jam Gaze,” blending classic indie rock, shoegaze, and jam band touches. Kicking off the music component are the Montreal punk rockers Bad Skin. Known for their globe-trotting tours and catchy anthems like “We Are the Girls,” they bring a fiery stage presence and infectious energy to the event.
The Ramova Theatre will be fully transformed for the night, allowing guests to experience a full spectrum of culture. Doors for the 21+ event open at 6 p.m., giving attendees plenty of time to explore the venue. Beyond the stage, attendees can get tattooed, discover local artists and makers, shop vintage wares, and catch a phenomenal live show all in one night.
The Ramova Grill & Taproom will also be serving up food and drinks throughout the evening. Inked & Amped promises a loud, colorful, and decidedly unconventional setting, built entirely around the people and culture that make Chicago’s alternative scene hum.
The 21-and-over event takes place on September 17 at The Ramova Theatre in Chicago, running from 6 p.m. through midnight. Admission is free, first-come, first-served, and subject to venue capacity.
