Index announces debut album Fractured and starts touring

In the explosive landscape of experimental hardcore, a new force is making waves: Index, the dynamic LA/Philly duo featuring former Control Top members Alan Creedon and Alex Lichtenauer. Having finally announced their debut album, Vis Inertiae, the group is set to deliver a raw and visceral experience that promises to shake up the scene.

The foundation of Index is built on a shared intensity and a hunger for sonic exploration. Creedon, who remains rooted in Philadelphia, and Lichtenauer bring a unique blend of aggressive energy and inventive guitarwork and hyper drumming, respectively. Their journey from intense musical collaboration to full-fledged recording has been fueled by a commitment to pure, unfiltered sound.

The process of creating their debut work was as electrifying as the music itself. As Creedon recounts, the excitement of working together quickly crystallized into action. “We made plans to fly back and forth, to learn some of the songs, and work on them together,” he notes. The moment they found sync in the studio, it felt inevitable: “Nothing is going to get in the way of this. We’re going to do this. It’s going to be a real thing.”

This creative spark led to the release of their debut single, “Cellophane,” back in May, which serves as an electrifying opener for the full-length album. The sound on Vis Inertiae is a testament to this collaborative energy, featuring tracks like “Fractured,” a ripper driven by Lichtenauer’s precision and Creedon’s inventive guitar assaults.

Lichtenauer describes the magic of that collaboration: “When I heard ‘Fractured’ for the first time, I was like, ‘holy fuck,’ and then I went to go to my practice space and play it.” The synergy between their skills truly came into focus when Creedon visited Los Angeles, allowing the vision to fully materialize.
