Icehouse 40 Years Tour: 2027 Australian Run
The legendary Australian rock band Icehouse is gearing up for a monumental celebration, marking the 40th anniversary of their iconic album Man of Colours with an upcoming 2027 Australian tour. This isn’t just a concert series; it promises to be a rare, intimate experience, combining the retrospective brilliance of their catalog with a groundbreaking new stage format.
Led by Iva Davies, the six-date run scheduled for June and July 2027 is set to redefine how the band performs. For the first time in more than two decades, the tour will take place in an indoor setting, offering fans an unparalleled opportunity to experience the music up close and personal. As Davies noted, this shift moves beyond the typical large outdoor shows, allowing them to delve deeper into the material and create a more immersive experience for everyone involved.
The tour will feature a full performance of the 1987 album Man of Colours, including tracks the band has never played live before, alongside their most beloved career-spanning hits. Fans can look forward to witnessing signature tracks like “Great Southern Land,” “Hey Little Girl,” “We Can Get Together,” and “Love in Motion” brought to life in a new, expanded context.
Man of Colours itself remains a titan of Australian music. Released in September 1987, the album was the commercial zenith of Icehouse’s career, achieving massive success both domestically and internationally. It spent eleven weeks at number one on the Australian albums chart and topped the New Zealand chart, selling over one million copies. The album’s impact was formally recognized when it won the ARIA Awards for Album of the Year and Highest Selling Album in 1988.
The album also garnered significant global recognition, particularly in the United States. The track “Electric Blue,” a collaboration between Davies and John Oates of Hall & Oates, became the band’s only Australian No. 1 single and reached number seven on the Billboard Hot 100. Other tracks, such as “Crazy,” also charted well on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart.
The tour itinerary will sweep across the nation, kicking off at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre on June 5 and concluding at the RAC Arena in Perth on July 10. The route includes major cities such as Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth.
Tickets are expected to go on sale soon: fan-club and PayPal presales begin on September 16, with general tickets available on Friday, September 18, at 11 a.m. local time via TEG Live. Special guests are reportedly being announced to further elevate the excitement for this historic run.
