Holly Humberstone cancels tour due to medical emergency
The music world has been shaken by news from singer-songwriter Holly Humberstone, who has made the difficult decision to cancel the remainder of her European tour following a serious medical emergency involving a member of her touring party.
The news arrived on September 21 when Humberstone shared an update on social media, explaining that the situation occurred the previous day as her team arrived in Cologne. She confirmed that a member of the group suffered a life-threatening medical emergency on the bus, but thankfully, the team was able to get immediate help, and the individual is now stable in the hospital.
In her message, Humberstone expressed deep gratitude for the medical team involved, noting how incredible the care they provided in Cologne. She emphasized that the well-being of her team was the absolute priority, leading her to prioritize their recovery over the scheduled performances.
Because of this unforeseen event, the singer-songwriter had to make the tough call to pull the plug on the rest of the European run. She stated that it simply would not feel right to continue performing without her team while they were focused on recovery, underscoring the family bond she shares with her touring group.
The decision meant postponing numerous scheduled dates across the continent, including shows in Copenhagen, Oslo, Stockholm, Hamburg, Berlin, and Munich. This was a significant disruption for fans who had travelled to see the show, and Humberstone offered a sincere apology for the inconvenience caused.
The situation added another layer of stress to her schedule. Prior to the tour cancellation, Humberstone had also had to postpone earlier dates in Cologne and subsequently faced personal health setbacks, including a bout of the flu that left her temporarily without her voice, forcing further adjustments to the itinerary.
The tour was launched in support of Humberstone’s second album, Cruel World, which arrived in April, and the cancellation naturally cast a shadow over the momentum of the live experience. It is a poignant reminder that even the most meticulously planned artistic endeavors must yield to the unpredictable nature of life.
Reflecting on the experience of touring, Humberstone has previously spoken about the transformative power of life away from the spotlight. She noted that stepping off the road gave her the space to rediscover her identity, asking herself, “Who am I as a person?”, emphasizing the need to slow down and reconnect with herself outside the demands of the road.
