Haywire keeps the momentum rolling on new LP
The sound of Boston hardcore is getting louder, and lately, a new force is hitting the scene with serious momentum: Haywire. This upstart band isn’t just making noise; they are rapidly expanding their reach, proving that a deeply rooted community spirit can translate into a massive musical movement.
Haywire has delivered another major release, announcing their second full-length album, I Don’t Wanna Say Goodbye, set to drop on October 2nd via Roadrunner Records. This new offering is not just a record; it’s a testament to the band’s commitment to bringing their raw energy to as many listeners as possible.
To launch this wave, the band is releasing the single “Interstate Love Affair,” accompanied by a brand-new video directed by Luis Hernandez, giving the music a fresh visual identity that matches its explosive energy.
The journey to this point has been marked by incredible collaboration and connectivity. Haywire’s ascent has been closely tied to its relationship with fellow Boston institution, the Dropkick Murphys. Since forming in late 2023, Haywire has approached the hardcore ecosystem with a distinctly community-minded spirit, backing a steady stream of releases with an even steadier touring schedule.
This new album, I Don’t Wanna Say Goodbye, builds upon a prolific run of work, including the 2024 release CONDITIONED FOR DEMOLITION and the FOR BETTER OR FOR WORSE EP. Earlier this year, the band further cemented their bond with the scene by participating in splits, including the “Shirts Vs. Skins” collaboration with No Guard and the “New England Forever” split with Dropkick Murphys.
The production quality of the new material is seriously high, with the album being produced by Citizen’s Mat Kerekes and mixed by Taylor Young of the Pit Studio. The recording process spanned three months, taking place in studios in Leeds, U.K., and Toledo, Ohio, and featured contributions from members of Nothing and the Aggrolites, alongside other Haywire friends.
With the visual component now in place, the new single and video are poised to amplify the album’s message. Haywire’s live calendar suggests there will be plenty of opportunities for fans to experience the full force of the music. They are slated to hit U.S. dates in September alongside Turnstile and Circle Jerks, followed by a formidable fall festival circuit, including appearances at Louder Than Life, Riot Fest, CBGB Fest, Aftershock, Furnace Fest, and Sick New World.
