Harry Fowler surprises with debut album Blankets

Harry Fowler Unveils Intimate Solo World with Debut Album

Guitarist Harry Fowler, best known for his work with the acclaimed band Wunderhorse, has surprised fans by dropping his debut solo album, Blankets, and the accompanying single Perfect Colours.

This new release arrived without any prior announcement, marking a fascinating step outside of Fowler’s established role within the band. Blankets is described as an intimate collection, pulling together songs that Fowler has nurtured over his teenage years. The album embraces a stripped-back approach, featuring sparse, finger-picked acoustic guitar and delicate vocals that invite listeners into a deeply personal space.

The music itself offers a wonderfully understated sound. The debut single, Perfect Colours, exemplifies this new direction, driven softly by lilting piano notes and an aching lead vocal, showcasing the softer, more introspective side of Fowler’s artistry.

While the solo material is wonderfully personal, Fowler’s connection to the music scene is deeply rooted. He and Wunderhorse frontman Jacob Slater have been friends since they were teenagers, bonded over a shared appreciation for iconic acts like Led Zeppelin, Pearl Jam, and Nirvana.

Their collaborative journey has led to significant work; Wunderhorse released their second album, Midas, following their earlier work, which established them as a fully realized four-piece. The band has continued to refine its sound, notably exploring unreleased tracks like ‘Kerosene’ and ‘Promises’ during their recent North American tour.

The evolution of the group and its sound has been a journey. Following their powerful record Midas, the band took time to reflect, and Slater recently suggested that the group’s next musical direction could embrace a more optimistic outlook. “Midas was pretty bleak, so maybe that’s the bridge to whatever we’re gonna do next,” Slater explained, hinting at a shift toward greater hope.

Wunderhorse is currently gearing up for a massive stage presence, set to support Sam Fender on his extensive 2027 UK stadium tour, which includes highly anticipated dates at venues like Wembley Stadium and Manchester’s Etihad Stadium. Wunderhorse is also scheduled to support Fender in new stops across the UK, including Cardiff and Edinburgh.
