Gracie Abrams SNL performances of ‘Hit The Wall’ and ‘Here You Come’
When fame collides with history, the result is often brilliantly theatrical. That is exactly what singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams delivered to the stage last night on Saturday Night Live, transforming the sketch show into a nod to classic romance with a dose of pop-culture mischief.
For the Halloween special, Abrams stepped into the world of Baz Luhrmann’s iconic film Romeo + Juliet, not just with her voice, but with a spectacular vision. She paid homage to the dramatic love story by donning elaborate costumes, bringing the tension and romance of Verona to the television screen.
The tribute began with a performance that perfectly captured the film’s atmosphere. Dressed as Claire Danes, Abrams channeled Juliet, appearing in the angel costume reminiscent of the film’s famous fancy-dress sequence. To enhance the scene, she recreated the pivotal moment when Romeo and Juliet first caught sight of each other by standing behind an aquarium, perfectly mimicking the scene where Leonardo DiCaprio and Juliet gazed upon each other through a fish tank.
The performance continued with a second, equally charming rendition. Abrams then transformed into Romeo, sporting the character’s Hawaiian shirt and the metallic sleeves of his knight’s costume. This playful shift set the stage for her performance of ‘Here You Come, There You Go’, a brand new song that is already slated for the deluxe edition of her album ‘Daughter From Hell’.
This appearance marked Abrams’ return to the SNL stage, following her earlier musical guest appearances when she performed tracks from her second album, ‘The Secret Of Us’. It was a perfect blending of her artistic evolution and her knack for embracing pop culture.
The energy surrounding this performance comes just days after Abrams announced an expansion of Daughter From Hell, adding five new tracks to the deluxe edition. This latest outing served as a perfect promotional moment, showcasing her connection to her longtime collaborator Aaron Dessner of The National, and setting the stage for her next big adventure.
Looking ahead, Abrams is gearing up for a major leap, embarking on her 2026-2027 ‘The Look At My Life Tour’. This extensive arena tour will take her across North America, the UK, and Europe, starting with a show at Denver’s Ball Arena. Support across the tour will include artists like Rachel Chinouriri, Holly Humberstone, and Del Water Gap.
