Gayance releases new album roaming

The journey of an artist is often the richest source of inspiration, and for Montreal-born, Lisbon-based musician Gayance, that journey has been beautifully distilled into sound. Today, she unveiled her sophomore album, roaming, a seven-track sonic exploration that captures the spirit of a decade spent in constant transit.

More than just a collection of songs, roaming is framed as a “sonic travelogue born of a decade in transit.” It is an auditory map charting Gayance’s experiences across continents, transforming personal movement into a globally informed soundscape. The album pulls deeply from her experiences spanning Brazil, Brussels, Amsterdam, and many other places beyond.

Through these musical landscapes, Gayance delves into profound themes, exploring the complex emotional and political currents of the ‘political movement’ of the diaspora. Her music acts as a fluid bridge, weaving together her rich Haitian heritage with the diverse cultural textures she has encountered throughout her life.

The resulting work is a powerful testament to the experience of displacement and movement, offering listeners an intimate and visceral glimpse into the rhythm of global migration. roaming invites audiences not just to listen, but to travel, experiencing the world through Gayance’s unique lens of sound.
