GANS drops new album and single ‘My God Is A Stranger’ a cauldron of sex and witchcraft

GANS Dive into the Cauldron of Casual Love with New Album and Single

The West Midlands musical duo GANS is back, delivering a potent dose of existential reflection wrapped in propulsive electronic sound. Following their debut, they have announced their self-titled second album, set to arrive on February 28 via Strap Originals, kicking off with the highly anticipated single ‘My God Is A Stranger’.

This new music dives deep into the complex landscape of modern relationships, exploring the tension between spiritual searching and the hedonism of casual living. The narrative behind the album captures a moment of intense self-discovery, born from the chaos of breaking up with partners and navigating the blurred lines of lust and belonging.

The single ‘My God Is A Stranger’ is an embodiment of this search, positioning the experience as a cauldron where casual sex and witchcraft swirl together as the band grapples with finding meaning in their lives. The lyrics explore the internal conflict, asking profound questions about spirituality and the occult while living in the immediate, sensual moment.

The track itself is a powerful statement, singing about the internal struggle: “Been in love, been in lust, been in someone not myself […]/ I’m a lover, I’m a preacher/ I’m the church and I’m the truth/ But my God is a stranger…” It’s a raw exploration of identity lost within the noise of fleeting connections.

Sonically, the forthcoming LP promises an expansive sound, moving deeper into the realm of electronic music. The recording process itself was an adventure, with GANS writing the material in an Airbnb in the Netherlands and producing it in Southern Spain, lending the album a unique, globally infused texture.

The core sound is driven by the chemistry of the duo, Thomas Rhodes and Euan Woodman. Rhodes handles the bass, guitar, synths, and vocals, while Woodman provides the drums and additional synth work, creating a driving, propulsive atmosphere that perfectly matches the lyrical themes.

The release also features a self-directed live performance video for the single, which takes viewers behind the scenes of the creation, including a performance featuring touring member Tommy Lawther on saxophone at The Vaults in London.

The album features ten tracks, including ‘At Peace’, ‘Over Again’, and the lead single, ‘My God Is A Stranger’, offering a complete journey through their current emotional state. The tracklist also includes ‘Do You Glow?’, ‘Make Me Weak’, and ‘Roadtripping’.

GANS are currently on the road, having already played nearly 200 shows in 2026. They are set to embark on another UK headline tour next week, with further dates for 2027 expected to be announced soon.

The UK tour dates for 2026 include stops across the country, such as Aberdeen, Liverpool, Sheffield, and London, ensuring that this new, expansive sound reaches audiences nationwide.
