Frank Turner quits touring after Lost Evenings
After two decades spent living life on the road, singer-songwriter Frank Turner is embarking on a well-deserved pause, announcing that he will be stepping away from touring after the final edition of his Lost Evenings festival in 2027.
The decision was made with a note of genuine uncertainty, as Turner stated that he “genuinely does not know when he will perform live again.” This announcement signals a significant pivot, allowing the veteran musician to explore new paths and recharge before deciding where the music will take him next.
The final run of the festival will be a massive send-off. The 10th and final Lost Evenings will take place at London’s OVO Arena Wembley from November 4-7, 2027. These four dates will serve as his final concerts for the foreseeable future, bringing an incredible celebration to the city where the festival first launched in 2017.
These Wembley performances are set to be more than just concerts; they are intended to be a grand farewell, an opportunity “for all of us to celebrate the last 20 years and bid them the farewell they deserve.” The festival will feature Turner and his backing band, The Sleeping Souls, headlining each of the four nights, alongside the Nick Alexander Stage for emerging artists and a full day of panels and workshops.
Beyond the stage, Turner outlined a desire to step away from the relentless demands of the industry. He reflected on the changing economics of touring, the influence of social media, and the importance of personal well-being. For Turner, this break is about prioritizing personal life—spending more time with family and friends, exploring new ways of life, and tending to his physical and mental health.
This period of reflection comes as Turner continues to champion causes that matter to him. He has long been a prominent voice for the live sector, advocating for changes that benefit smaller venues and artists. This commitment is evidenced by his past actions, including calling for a levy on arena tickets and donating from every ticket sale to support organizations like the Music Venue Trust and The Ally Coalition.
His legacy of impactful living is also reflected in his record. His most recent studio album, ‘Undefeated’, released in May 2024, marked a successful return to the independent label Xtra Mile.
Turner concluded his statement by expressing profound gratitude to his fans and the community that has supported his journey. While the touring chapter may be closing, the message is clear: with joy, humility, and thankfulness, he looks forward to what comes next, ready to explore new ideas and projects.
Fans can secure their tickets for the historic Lost Evenings X at Wembley. General sale begins on Wednesday, September 30. A portion of every ticket sold will be donated to vital arts and charity organizations.
