Fontaines D.C. play ‘Demolition’ live celebrating Belgrade victory

When chart-topping indie band Fontaines D.C. took the stage at the Hangar luka Beograd in Belgrade, they didn’t just deliver a set; they became part of history. During their ongoing 2026 tour celebrating their album Dopamine Chamber, the performance became a powerful celebration of a monumental student victory in Serbia.

The night merged the raw energy of rock music with a pivotal moment in the nation’s recent political shift. This wasn’t just a concert; it was an artistic response to a historic moment, marking the end of Aleksandar Vučić’s fourteen-year rule and the triumph of a student-led movement.

The band used their time on stage to underscore the significance of the moment, channeling the collective feeling of the crowd into their music. Frontman Grian Chatten framed the experience with profound simplicity, saying, “This is your moment, this is not ours,” prompting a roar of cheers and chants from the audience.

The setlist was a carefully curated mix, drawing from the band’s latest material while honoring their established legacy. They unleashed fresh tracks from their new album, including ‘Marianne’, ‘Tongue’, and ‘Where Is Gone?’, alongside hits like ‘Happy For You’ and ‘Six Shot Morning’. They also revisited fan favorites such as ‘Bug’, ‘Starburster’, and ‘Roman Holiday’.

The highlight of the evening, however, was the live debut of their recently released track, ‘Demolition’. As Chatten sang the lyrics, backed by a haunting blue light and his bandmates’ atmosphere, the song resonated deeply with the gravity of the political victory.

The success of the music also underscores the artistic quality of their work. The album Dopamine Chamber received a glowing five-star review from NME, which hailed it as “an extraordinary record for extraordinary times” and “something pure, honest and feeling.”

Beyond this historic performance, Fontaines D.C. are currently on an expansive global journey. Their European arena tour is currently in full swing, moving from Lisbon and Prague through Berlin, Stockholm, and Amsterdam. The band is set to continue their momentum by heading to the UK for arena shows in cities like Liverpool, Manchester, and Leeds.

Looking ahead, the band is poised for some truly massive moments, including planned outdoor gigs at venues like Slane Castle and a double-header at Manchester’s Heaton Park in 2027. Support for these major UK stops will feature artists such as Little Simz and Viagra Boys, with Hayley Williams opening the way in Ireland.
