Fontaines D.C. and Rosalía share Dopamine Chamber tracklist
Fontaines D.C. are diving headfirst into a new sonic landscape with their fifth album, Dopamine Chamber, promising an experience that is as intoxicating as it is unsettling. The tracklist, which is already packed with tension and raw energy, includes new fan favourites like Six Shot Morning and Happy For You, setting the stage for a journey that explores the darker side of the modern human experience.
Adding a layer of global flavour to the collection is a surprising collaboration: the track Where Is Gone? features Spanish pop pioneer Rosalía, marking the band’s first-ever guest vocal appearance. This musical bridge expands their already potent sound, showcasing their willingness to cross borders and engage with diverse musical influences.
The thematic core of Dopamine Chamber is a powerful reflection on contemporary anxieties. Moving beyond previous explorations, the album delves into “darker and more synthetic sounds,” examining the search for pleasure amidst peril in a world that feels increasingly on the brink of collapse, especially in the age of digital and artificial existence.
Frontman Grian Chatten describes the album as a “dopamine chamber,” an invitation to step inside and experience various mind or mood-altering pieces of music. This pursuit of intense feeling mirrors the tension embedded in the music itself.
Reflecting on the shift in their creative focus, Chatten noted that the new work feels less hopeful and more confrontational. “I felt it would be more powerful to leave the hope out and reflect the ugliness honestly. This one needed to feel more like a catastrophic warning,” he shared.
The band’s exploration touches upon profound existential questions. Bassist Conor ‘Deego’ Deegan reflected on their evolution, noting that their albums have consistently questioned a sense of place—from Dublin to elsewhere—and that this record raises the critical question: “where do you escape to?”
This deep dive into mood and geography culminates in an album that feels like a necessary reckoning. Dopamine Chamber arrives on October 16th, ahead of a significant UK and European arena tour, setting up a future filled with even bigger stages, including stadium and outdoor dates in 2027 with artists like Little Simz and Viagra Boys.
The momentum behind this release follows a hugely successful summer for the Dublin band, who recently commanded the stage at major festivals like Reading & Leeds and Electric Picnic, solidifying their reputation as a force in contemporary music.
