Fiddlehead and Walter Schreifel cover ‘It’s Clobberin’ Time

The music world mourned the loss of Lou Koller, the iconic frontman and co-founder of the New York hardcore band Sick Of It All.

Koller’s passing, which occurred at the age of 59, was preceded by a courageous two-year battle against adenocarcinoma, a form of oesophageal cancer, which he disclosed in June 2024 while the band cancelled European tour dates to focus on treatment.

Amidst the widespread tributes from the hardcore community and beyond, the memory of Lou Koller is defined by his infectious spirit. The band Sick Of It All shared that they felt the loss was simply overwhelming, mourning not only a friend but an iconic figure who brought light to the scene.

A Tribute to Legacy

In honor of Koller’s memory, Fiddlehead and Walter Schreifels joined forces recently, paying tribute to his powerful legacy by covering the track Sick Of It All’s classic, ‘It’s Clobberin’ Time’ on Friday night at The Warsaw in Brooklyn.

Before launching into the song, Schreifels reflected deeply on Koller’s influence, speaking about the profound impact he had on the music community. “I was never not star-stuck by his presence and what he did with music,” Schreifels shared with the audience. “With Sick Of It All, he spread hardcore around the world. If it wasn’t for Lou, we wouldn’t be enjoying this beautiful scene we have. He really fucking built that shit for us.”

The band also extended their gratitude to those who supported Koller during his illness, acknowledging that their generosity helped him feel very special and very loved as he navigated those final two years.

Sick Of It All emphasized the joy Koller brought to everyone. “Lou had the power to raise everyone’s spirits at our shows with a smile and a sarcastic comment, and he won people over wherever we played, from every culture and every corner of the world,” the band noted.

The tribute served as a powerful reminder of the vibrant, energetic spirit that Lou Koller embodied—a legacy built on commitment, camaraderie, and an undeniable enthusiasm for music.
