The anticipation for Glastonbury Festival is building, but this year, the conversation isn’t just about the legendary line-up—it’s about the ticket prices. As organizers set the stage for Glastonbury 2027, fans are reacting to the figures, with many labeling them as either “insane” or a surprisingly sweet “bargain.”
The official ticket sale dates have been set: the festival will kick off from Wednesday, June 23 to Sunday, June 27 next year. Ticket sales will begin with coach and ticket packages at 6pm BST on Thursday, October 1, followed by standard tickets at 9am BST on Sunday, October 4.
For the first time in the festival’s history, general admission tickets are set to cost £408, which includes a £5 booking fee. This figure represents a significant jump, moving up from the 2025 edition’s price of £378.50 and marking a substantial increase from the 2010 prices of £286.
The climb in cost reflects a wider economic reality. Increases are attributed to soaring energy and infrastructure costs, complicated post-Brexit logistics, labor shortages, and visa issues that affect large-scale event management. This financial pressure is not unique to Glastonbury; other major festivals have also seen significant hikes, with data showing ticket prices rising considerably across the music industry.
The scale of the financial challenge is immense. Before the pandemic, the festival’s organizers estimated the cost of running Glastonbury was approximately £40 million, requiring a complete sell-out just to break even. Today, the challenge remains, but the context is drastically different.
This sharp rise in cost has predictably ignited a spirited debate among the fanbase. Some are vocal in their frustration, calling the prices unfair and reflecting on the change from the festival’s past. Others, however, argue that when you weigh the experience of five days of massive acts, the sheer scale of the entertainment, and the overall value, the ticket price is still a bargain.
The comparison often drawn is between the festival cost and the price of individual gigs. While major stadium acts command prices in the £80 to £100 range, fans note that the overall £408 price for the entire five-day experience, including access to the fields and everything in between, offers remarkable value.
The excitement surrounding the 2027 lineup is equally compelling. Bookmakers are predicting a blockbuster bill for the Pyramid Stage, featuring heavy hitters like Sam Fender, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, Rihanna, and Little Simz. Rumours also point towards other massive names such as Harry Styles, Radiohead, Fontaines D.C., Muse, and The Rolling Stones, with reports suggesting the latter might finally return to the festival stage.
