After a sixteen-year hiatus, American singer-songwriter Eric Hutchinson is finally landing back on Australian soil for what promises to be a highly anticipated run of performances.
The return marks his first headline tour in the country, bringing his piano-driven pop and soul sound back to East Coast theaters in November. Fans are set to catch him in three major cities during this special event: Brisbane’s Lefty’s Music Hall on November 19th, Melbourne’s Northcote Social Club on November 20th, and Sydney’s The Lansdowne on November 21st.
Hutchinson’s path to Australian recognition is certainly unique. While he built a significant following in the United States through releases like his album Sounds Like This, his entry into the Australian market was largely propelled by a single sync. The track “Rock & Roll,” featured in the homegrown drama Packed to the Rafters, helped drive the song to platinum status locally, reaching No. 1 on the charts in 2009.
Though he had toured Australia previously supporting major acts like Jason Mraz and Kelly Clarkson during the 2008 and 2009 years, Hutchinson never returned for his own dedicated run. He admitted that his absence was due partly to the distance between New York City and Australia, but this time, the timing finally aligned with a strong demand from Australian fans.
This upcoming tour is designed to celebrate his latest work, supporting his 2026 album Repeating Myself. The Australian dates will feature a dynamic mix of new material alongside beloved catalog hits, including “Rock & Roll,” “OK, It’s Alright With Me,” and “A Little More,” offering a nostalgic yet fresh experience for the audience.
Adding to the excitement, Hutchinson will be joined by fellow musical talent Marshall Hamburger, the winner of the 2025 season of Australian Idol, who will open for him on the tour.
The entire East Coast run is presented by Teamwrk Touring and MRG Live, marking a significant moment for Hutchinson as he reclaims his place in the Australian music landscape.
