Erasure’s first LP in six years

Forty years into their illustrious career, the British synth-pop duo Erasure is ready to unveil a new chapter. Andy Bell and Vince Clarke have announced their 20th studio album, Radio!! Radio!!, set to arrive in 2027, alongside a new single, “Wings of Love,” and an extensive European arena tour.

This upcoming release marks the duo’s first new studio effort in six years, and the new material immediately signals a shift. Tracks like “Wings of Love” are dripping with a blend of hope and defiance, exploring profound themes of love, loss, and injustice that resonate deeply with listeners.

The creation of Radio!! Radio!! was fueled by a powerful personal reunion. More than just musical collaborators, Bell and Clarke are two people who have navigated four decades of life together. This deeply personal history infused the songwriting, transforming the process into something sacred. As Andy Bell reflects, the bond between them is the foundation of the music: “When you’re a songwriting partnership for so long, it’s very deep, kind of like a soul connection. You trust that person with your life, and because of the nature of songwriting, you just lay bare your soul. That becomes a sacred space.”

This emotional depth is palpable in the music. While the project is defined by sparkling electronics, Vince Clarke also found inspiration beyond the synthesizers, exploring piano and acoustic guitar, drawing from composers like Erik Satie. The new songs reflect a journey of healing, as Bell noted that the process brought a sense of hope, having helped both artists through difficult times.

Logistically, the band is preparing for a major concert run. Erasure will headline arenas across the U.K. and Europe starting April 25, 2027, beginning at Cardiff’s Utilita Arena before moving through the region, culminating at London’s O2 Arena. The tour will also reach Germany, Denmark, and Sweden, with additional dates planned.

There is a notable adjustment to the touring structure. To ease the physical demands of constant transatlantic travel, Vince Clarke will not be performing onstage. Instead, he will serve as the tour’s musical director from his home in San Diego, allowing him to manage the direction and creative flow while maintaining the integrity of the partnership.

Andy Bell is delighted with this arrangement, emphasizing that the core partnership remains firmly intact. “I’m so pleased that we were able to find a way for the tour to work for Vince,” Bell said. “He’s always too modest but he’s so much more than the musical director. Vince is one of the great loves of my life and everything we do as Erasure we decide together.”

With North American dates scheduled for 2027, the Erasure journey promises to be as emotionally rich as it is musically compelling.
