Eladio Carrión’s Polaroid Moment with Latin Airplay No 1

The Latin music scene is currently buzzing with undeniable energy, and at the center of this excitement is Eladio Carrión, who has once again cemented his spot at the top of the charts. His track Polaroid has managed to score its second No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart, climbing 3-1 on the September 5 ranking.

This triumphant moment comes two years after Carrión last held the crown, demonstrating a sustained and powerful trajectory for the artist. The success of “Polaroid” is a testament not just to Carrión’s talent, but to its broad cultural appeal.

The song truly captured the attention of the radio landscape, taking a substantial 18 weeks to climb to the top of the overall Latin radio chart. While it had a brief dip following an initial peak, the momentum quickly rebounded. The track achieved a massive 13% audience gain, reaching 6.9 million impressions in the United States during the tracking week ending August 27, according to Luminate data.

Adding a layer of classic flair to its sound, “Polaroid” is notable for its creative sampling. It incorporated a spin on Michael Sembello’s iconic 1983 hit “Maniac” from the Flashdance film, linking contemporary Latin rhythms with timeless 80s pop.

This musical nod didn’t stay confined to the charts; it even found a place on the Greatest of All Time Songs of the Summer chart, underscoring the song’s enduring nostalgic appeal.

Beyond the Latin airplay, the track also propelled Carrión’s musical presence across hybrid charts. Thanks to its strong radio haul, “Polaroid” climbed 40-35 on the Hot Latin Songs chart, peaking at a high rank of No. 25 during its debut in May.

Meanwhile, the Regional Mexican genre is also experiencing a significant surge. La Arrolladora Banda El Limón de René Camacho has also achieved major milestones. Their song “Si Las Miradas Mataran” banked its 23rd championship on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart, racing 9-1 to the summit.

This regional favorite generated impressive reach, reaching 6.3 million audience impressions, marking a substantial 39% increase during the tracking period. The song also debuted strongly on the Hot Regional Mexican Songs chart, debuting at No. 18, further showcasing the genre’s vibrant momentum.
