Dove Ellis releases 5 unreleased songs from Live at Alexandra Palace album

Indie folk artist Dove Ellis is channeling his powerful voice and infectious energy into a deeply meaningful project: the new concert album, Live At Alexandra Palace Theatre. This record is more than just a collection of songs; it is a powerful statement born from a sold-out London performance and a profound commitment to global humanitarian causes.

The 15-track recording captures the electrifying atmosphere of Ellis’ recent show, which earned high praise from critics. The performance took place in the capital, leaning heavily on the acclaim his debut album ‘Blizzard’ had already garnered, showcasing a voice that is both captivating and deeply expressive.

The setlist itself was a masterclass in surprise and artistry. The audience witnessed not only familiar tracks but also five exciting, unreleased songs that added an extra layer of excitement. These included titles such as ‘The Royal Brown Hole’, ‘Two Brothers Smoking’, ‘It Barks’, ‘Marooning’, and ‘Nest Amongst Stars’, alongside a thoughtful cover of ‘April The 14th, Part 1’ by Gillian Welch.

The live event itself garnered critical acclaim, with the performance receiving a glowing four-and-a-half-star review from NME. Critics highlighted Ellis’ “captivating voice” and noted that the setlists were “peppered with unexpected moments and unreleased songs that can catch you off guard,” demonstrating the thrill of live indie music.

But the true heart of this project lies in its purpose. Every purchase of the limited-edition release directly supports War Child, an organization dedicated to providing specialist mental health support, education, immediate aid, and protection to children worldwide affected by conflict.

Rich Clarke, Executive Head of Music at War Child UK, expressed immense gratitude for the support. “Music is at the heart of what we do at War Child,” Clarke stated. “This record is a testament to the tangible impact artists and music lovers can have on the world when they set their minds to it.”

The initiative marks a significant step for the charity, as it is the first artist release on War Child Records since their highly successful charity album ‘Help(2)’. Ellis collaborated with other artists, including Anna Calvi, Ellie Rowsell of Wolf Alice, and Nilüfer Yanya on the collection ‘Sunday Light’.

The physical release of Live At Alexandra Palace Theatre will be limited to 1,500 double vinyl copies, scheduled for release on Friday November 13. This limited edition ensures that the music remains accessible while providing vital funds to aid vulnerable children globally.

Dove Ellis is currently embarking on a UK and Ireland tour in November, following this important release, further spreading his message and generosity alongside his captivating music.
