Clap Your Hands Feel the Fever
Veteran indie rock outfit Clap Your Hands Say Yeah is back, delivering their seventh studio album, Burned, set to arrive on January 29, 2027. This long-awaited full-length release marks a significant moment for the band, arriving through their own CYHSY label via Secretly Distribution.
The new music is deeply personal, delving into the emotional landscape of the founder, Alec Ounsworth. It is an album born from a challenging period, one where personal losses and heartbreak became the raw material for creation. Rather than letting grief sit idle, Ounsworth channeled his experiences with depression, alienation, and the weight of generational burdens into a collection that navigates confusion toward a fragile, yet hopeful, renewal.
At the forefront of this emotional journey is the lead single, “Fever of the Mind.” This track serves as the thematic and sonic anchor for the entire album. Ounsworth explained that establishing this song first allowed him to shape the subsequent tracks around a central emotional truth. It is a raw exploration of internal struggle filtered through layers of evocative synth riffs.
The creative process for Burned followed a period of intense personal change. After a 2025 tour celebrating the 20th anniversary of the band’s debut, Ounsworth recorded the material in his home studio. The album received expert polish from frequent collaborator Nick Krill, while Dave and Mike Fridmann handled the mixing, lending the final product a polished, resonant quality.
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah is now gearing up for a major international campaign. The band will launch a significant tour, kicking off in Istanbul on February 7 before sweeping across Europe and the U.K. and North America. Headline dates are scheduled to begin April 5 in Washington, D.C., with stops including major cities like Atlanta, Austin, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Minneapolis, Chicago, and New York. The tour will wrap up in Philadelphia on May 15.
Fans looking to experience the sound of Burned live can find ticket information available starting Friday, October 23.
