Five years after their last full-length record, the dynamic Scottish trio CHVRCHES—Lauren Mayberry, Martin Doherty, and Iain Cook—have returned with a vibrant dose of tense synth rock in their new release, Roses. This new offering marks an exciting new chapter for the band, signaling a fresh sound that pushes beyond the sonic landscape they previously explored.

Roses arrives as the group’s first release via Futures Music Group, bringing fresh energy after a long hiatus and a period of creative evolution.

The band returned to the writing process with an explicit vision, aiming to push their boundaries and avoid simply retreading familiar territory. Mayberry notes that this collaborative effort resulted in what feels like their most coherent artistic vision yet, injecting a palpable excitement into their return.

Their previous success, highlighted by their 2021 album Screen Violence, which achieved a No. 1 spot in Scotland and No. 4 in the U.K., established them as major players in the rock scene. While the group took a period of time away, focusing on individual projects, the desire to reconnect culminated in a powerful reunion.

The group officially reassembled in March during a benefit concert for the Teenage Cancer Trust at London’s Royal Albert Hall. This reunion included the debut of several new tracks, including “Lullabies,” “Nightmares,” and “Conman,” showcasing the renewed chemistry between the members.

Now, with Roses out in the world, CHVRCHES is delivering the kind of sharp, melodic energy fans crave. The new material promises to be a thrilling exploration of their evolving musical identity.

Fans have a chance to experience the new music live as the band prepares for upcoming intimate shows. Tickets are available for performances in Glasgow on October 26 and London on October 29.
