Chvrches announces new album All The King’s Men and 2027 tour
After a brief pause, the synth-pop powerhouse Chvrches is back, not with a whisper, but with a declaration. The trio has announced their highly anticipated fifth album, All The King’s Men, set to arrive on January 22, 2027, marking their first full-length release in nearly six years.
This isn’t just a new record; it’s a deep dive into the rich tapestry of British and Scottish culture. The creation of All The King’s Men wasn’t a quiet studio affair, but an intense creative sprint. The band spent multiple three-week stints in Glasgow, where they fully embraced experimentation and allowed their creative instincts to run wild.
The album is a fascinating exploration of history and identity, drawing heavily on the cultural landscape of Britain and Scotland. Following their time spent in the US, the trio returned home, finding inspiration in the cinematic and musical histories of the region. Martin Doherty, for instance, drew heavily from filmmakers like Ken Loach and iconic artists such as Massive Attack and Siouxsie & The Banshees, who were unafraid to tackle complex social issues.
Simultaneously, Iain Cook stepped into a new sonic territory. Moving away from traditional electronica, he immersed himself in the acoustic world, finding inspiration in figures like Nick Drake and Bert Jansch, reshaping the band’s sound with a newfound intimacy.
The resulting collection of eleven songs is a vivid chronicle of this journey. The tracklist features tracks like ‘Roses‘, ‘Evil‘, ‘Adore You‘, and ‘Conman‘, offering listeners a journey through mood and memory.
The anticipation is only growing. The band has hinted that the new work is their most fearless record yet, with Doherty revealing that the project is reportedly 90 per cent complete. This promise of raw, unfiltered creativity suggests that All The King’s Men will be an ambitious and unforgettable statement.
The momentum is now shifting from the studio to the stage. Chvrches is gearing up for an extensive 2027 tour across the UK, Ireland, and North America, bringing their unique sound to audiences worldwide. The journey begins in Philadelphia in February, with dates stretching through spring and summer, culminating in a major headline show at London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire in May.
Fans can expect to catch the magic live as the band hits major cities, with ticket sales opening on October 30th. The tour dates are packed, offering a chance to experience the evolving sound of these Scottish stars on a grand scale.
