Charli XCX releases ‘Music Fashion Film’ B-Sides on iTunes

When a digital release hits, it often feels like a moment of pure pop euphoria. For Charli XCX, however, the latest move was less about pure joy and more about some delightful, begrudging concession to the devoted fanbase.

She has just made it official that several tracks previously known only to her most dedicated followers are now available on iTunes as part of a digital deluxe edition of her album, Music, Fashion, Film. These B-sides—including ‘I Keep On Thinking Bout You Every Single Day and Night’, ‘Playboy Bunny’, and ‘If You Take the Music Then What Has She Got?’—were originally featured on limited physical 7″ singles for releases like ‘Rock Music’, ‘SS26’, and ‘Camera’, as well as a physical box set.

Charli had previously expressed a strong philosophy regarding streaming, stating that she wasn’t keen on putting these specific tracks onto the platform, feeling it went against the ethos of the songs. Yet, when fan demand became undeniable, she ultimately yielded to the masses, releasing them with a shrug and a wink.

“I felt adamant I wouldn’t put them on streaming because it sort of felt counter intuitive to the whole ethos of those songs, but i know you all really wanted them so i’ve begrudgingly put them on itunes lol,” she explained, acknowledging the humorous compromise that resulted.

The album Music, Fashion, Film itself arrived with a cinematic flair, accompanied by an accompanying online short film. Fans were able to experience the record through listening events held in cinemas across 25 cities earlier this month, allowing them to absorb the music alongside its visuals before the official release.

The album itself was a collaborative effort, produced by Charli, Cook and Keane. It represents a significant step for Charli, marking her first conventional studio album since her triumphant 2024 work Brat, though she also recently contributed to the soundtrack for Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heights.

Beyond the new material, Charli XCX remains a powerhouse of musical discovery. She recently shared her top five favorite songs from her extensive back catalogue, a list that includes hits like ‘Stay Away’, ‘Next Level Charli’, the ‘Shygirl’ remix of ‘365’, ‘Track 10’, and her collaboration with SOPHIE on ‘Vroom Vroom’’, proving her enduring appeal lies in both artistic innovation and deep connection with her audience.

The momentum continues, with Charli set to headline Lollapalooza in Chicago next week before embarking on a wider tour, including making her debut at Reading & Leeds and launching a North American arena tour with Underscores in Philadelphia.
