Channel The Spirits 10th Anniversary Unreleased Late Night Party Jam 2
The experimental sound of the London jazz trio, The Comet Is Coming, marked a significant moment in contemporary music before their collective journey reached its end in 2023. They left behind a body of work featuring three adventurous albums and several EPs that pushed the boundaries of the genre.
The group’s decision to step away was not merely a musical evolution; it was an act of profound political solidarity. In support of the Palestinian people, they canceled what would have been their final performance, standing in opposition to a one-day global strike called for by the Jewish Voice For Peace. This choice cemented their artistic output as inextricably linked to global socio-political concerns.
Following their split, the focus shifted to the leader, Shabaka, who has since thrived as a solo artist, carrying forward the innovative spirit that defined the trio.
While the group dissolved, the legacy of their work continues to evolve. Now, the full-length debut album, Channel The Spirits, is set to celebrate a milestone with a 10th-anniversary reissue. This special edition will feature previously unreleased tracks, including the rare material from the “Late Night Party Jam 2,” offering fans an expanded look into the history of their musical exploration.
