Calle 24 cancels U.S. tour dates after visa revocation
The road to stardom often comes with unexpected detours, and for the acclaimed Mexican singer Calle 24, the path ahead has hit a sudden, unavoidable roadblock. The artist has announced the cancellation of the remaining dates for his Eterno Tour in the United States following the unexpected revocation of his U.S. work visa.
This development, announced on Tuesday, August 18, is a significant pivot for the artist, Diego Millán. While the excitement surrounding the tour has been palpable, the decision to halt the performances, which included seven scheduled shows, was made out of respect for U.S. laws and regulations, even though the circumstances were beyond his control.
The canceled dates included performances scheduled across several major cities, such as Payne Arena in Hidalgo, Texas; The Underground in Charlotte, North Carolina; The Tabernacle in Atlanta; House of Blues in Buena Vista, Florida; The Aztec Theatre in San Antonio; 713 Music Hall in Houston; and the Riviera Theatre in Chicago. These dates, which had been planned for the late summer and early fall, are now on hold.
The cancellation comes despite the immense momentum Calle 24 has built. The artist’s career has been marked by significant musical achievements, including his breakthrough hit “Qué Onda,” and a celebrated collaboration with Fuerza Regida and Chino Pacas. His partnership with Fuerza Regida, particularly on the track “Noche Perfecta,” led to a joint No. 1 placement on Latin Airplay and Regional Mexican Airplay in August, cementing his status among Latin music stars on the rise.
Calle 24 was recognized by Billboard as one of the Latin Artists on the Rise in 2023, a testament to the undeniable impact of his music on the regional and international charts.
Despite the disappointing news, the artist remains focused on his craft. In a heartfelt statement, Calle 24 expressed his deep regret, acknowledging the disappointment of his fans. He made it clear that this decision was made with the utmost respect for the legal processes involved, and he emphasized that the situation only affected the performances scheduled in the United States, with all other commitments continuing as planned.
Calle 24’s team is currently working diligently to resolve the complex matter and complete all necessary steps. The hope is that this unforeseen hurdle will not derail his music career for long, allowing him to eventually return to U.S. stages and reunite with his dedicated fanbase.
