Busta Rhymes Dillagence II featuring D’Angelo, Lil Wayne & more Stream Now
Nearly two decades after their initial work, the legendary collaboration between Busta Rhymes and the late J Dilla has finally delivered a new chapter with their joint project, Dillagence II. This highly anticipated follow-up arrived on streaming services, offering a rich tapestry of sound and legacy that continues to captivate audiences.
The new project is a sprawling 19-track offering, packed with diverse talent and undeniable energy. It features a stellar lineup of collaborators, including Dilla’s mother, Ma Dukes, R&B icon D’Angelo, Big Sean, Ludacris, Lil Wayne, Common, Talib Kweli, Anderson .Paak, and emerging artists like La Reezy and Honey Bxby, adding layers of history and contemporary flair to the experience.
The roots of this renewed project stretch back further than the music itself. It is built upon an unfinished collaboration between the two artists that began over twenty years ago, long before the project was formally realized. Busta Rhymes revealed that he was gifted with this material, a piece that remained incomplete as the buzz around the project grew.
“I was gifted with something that they did that they didn’t finish when the word started to spread about this project,” Busta explained. He noted that the initial spark between the two artists was powerful enough to create something monumental, even if it took time to find its final form. His motivation was clear: to honor the legacies of both artists by continuing the vision they started.
The history between Busta and Dilla is deep, tracing back to 2007 when they first joined forces on the original Dillagence. This collaboration began shortly after J Dilla’s passing in February 2006, creating a foundational piece of hip-hop history.
Busta Rhymes remains deeply immersed in the world of music, continuing to contribute to the studio. Beyond the legacy of Dillagence II, he has explored his artistic evolution through projects like Dragon Season… Equinox and his BLOCKBUSTA album released in 2023. This continued dedication demonstrates an enduring commitment to crafting innovative sounds.
Further solidifying the connection between the artists, Busta has teased a music video for the track “This Woman,” which was directed by Hype Williams—a director with an extensive history working with both Busta Rhymes and D’Angelo. The resulting project is more than just a collection of songs; it is a living testament to a creative partnership that refuses to fade into memory.
