Brandon Flowers performs ‘An American Dream’ and teases next Killers album
Brandon Flowers: From ‘Thrasher‘ to the Next Chapter of The Killers
Frontman Brandon Flowers is gearing up for a new creative phase, sharing exciting updates about his latest solo work and the ongoing evolution of The Killers. Recently, Flowers took the spotlight on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, not just to perform, but to dive into the deep end of what it means to create music.
During the appearance, Flowers offered a peek behind the curtain of his artistry, discussing his third solo album, ‘Thrasher‘. The performance itself was a journey, featuring a country-tinged track that showcased the rich musical tapestry Flowers has cultivated.
Beyond the performance, Flowers engaged in a candid musical interview, sitting at the piano and answering questions through song. The conversation delved into the future of The Killers, with Flowers confirming that ideas for the next album are actively taking shape.
“We’ve got some titles floating around,” he admitted, adding a touch of playful mystery by joking that even if he knew the final name, his publicist would keep it under wraps. He emphasized that it was too early to reveal specifics, suggesting the creative process is still wonderfully in motion.
The foundation of ‘Thrasher‘ was built on an incredible collaboration, bringing Flowers together with seasoned Nashville musicians. The session featured legendary players like guitarist David Rawlings, pedal steel player Bruce Bouton, and harmonica player Charlie McCoy—musicians whose talents have graced the classic albums of Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, Garth Brooks, and Waylon Jennings.
Flowers revealed that recording sessions often involved more than just playing notes; they were sessions of shared history. Musicians frequently exchanged stories, with McCoy recalling his experiences working alongside some of the biggest names in country music history.
‘Thrasher‘ holds a special place for Flowers as it marked his most personal record yet. He described the album as a time when he finally felt “equipped” to explore some of the more difficult and reflective parts of his childhood.
This journey into personal storytelling is part of a larger narrative. ‘Thrasher‘ is the first of two connected solo albums, with a more romantic follow-up already completed. This second project is framed as an antidote to modern life, designed to be an answer to the “loneliness epidemic.”
The work of The Killers continues to evolve, with the full band periodically meeting in Salt Lake City to hone their vision, working closely with producers Ariel Rechtshaid and Shawn Everett to chip away at new material.
Currently embarking on the ‘Thrasher‘ tour, Flowers continues to connect with his audience, even bringing his 15-year-old son Henry out to cover Oasis’ ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger‘ in Salt Lake City. The tour is set to kick off in Bournemouth on October 14, hitting major cities across the UK and Ireland.
